The name Balunu comes from the Luritja language of central Australia and was given to us by my Jamu (grandfather). The word Balunu means creation, creation of strong youth, strong leaders, strong culture and strong community for the future by breaking negative cycles and creating positive ones. Our youth can no longer wait
. The time has come to nurture, love and offer spiritual healing to guide them on their journey toward harmony and balance.
Vision
Create positive cycles of cultural empowerment for our youth, promoting healing, harmony and spiritual well being.
Unite and empower Indigenous people by creating a positive future for Indigenous youth and culture.
Provide a balance to empower and strengthen spiritual well being for Indigenous youth in giving them choices and opportunity to create a positive future.
Objectives
Provide a safe and culturally appropriate environment for Indigenous youth.
Support healing and spiritual growth for Indigenous youth.
Increase confidence, self esteem and self worth in Indigenous youth.
Encourage and support youth to choose positive pathways for their future.
Create employment and training opportunities for Indigenous youth.
Promote community harmony and reconciliation.
Balunu is a newly established organisation and is committed to the very purpose of healing and empowering Indigenous people, with a major focus on Indigenous youth. Our whole organisational focus is about the programs Balunu has set out to establish for the purpose of healing our people, through culture. Balunu is committed to the creation of a new beginning by creating strong leaders for the future.
It is Balunus purpose to deal with and address the many underlying issues many of our youth face in order to help them move away from their suffering and strive to take their place in the current world as we know it.
